CO2 emission allowance trading scheme
In continuation of the Kyoto Protocol the EU and its member states as well as a number of other industrialized nations have committed to making substantial reductions in their emissions of CO2 gases. In total 27 EU member states participate, i.e. more than 10,000 production units – in Denmark approx. 380 production units are involved.
One permit is defined as a permit equivalent to a metric tonne of CO2 for a given period. The emission is either paid with the permits allocated by the Government or by permits bought on the carbon market.
The CO2 permits are sold as an ordinary commodity – supply and demand decide the price.
The web-site of the Danish Energy Authority www.energistyrelsen.dk gives you links to the laws, regulations etc. about the CO2 permit. You will also see which Danish companies are included in the scheme. In short it is a matter of energy producing companies with output of at least 20 MW.
If you are planning a project with at least 20 MW output please do not hesitate to contact us for further information.
